Auditor II - Financial Crimes

Our Client, a Leading Bank, is looking for an Auditor II - Financial Crimes to join their growing team

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
 
The Financial Crimes Auditor II will work within a team and on occasion as an individual contributor on routine audit assignments testing internal controls and validates compliance with bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.  Assigned to audits  of the following areas: Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) to assess risks, assist the auditor- n-charge with the development of detailed audit programs, identify data analytic opportunities, execute audit programs, analyze results of testing performed, and assist in effectively communicate audit results to the Audit Senior Manager/Director and senior management in meetings, presentations, and/or written reports and memorandums. The position will support the bank’s Internal Audit in providing independent, objective assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of the Bank’s risk management practices, governance processes, system of internal controls for the Financial Crimes Compliance function. Additionally, the position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and execution of the continuous monitoring program in accordance with audit methodology and taking into consideration industry development, emerging risks, and regulatory changes and expectations.  

Internal Audit and CRR

The Internal Audit and CRR team provides objective and independent assurance services to support the bank in its mission and to help achieve its objectives through proactive risk management. The focus is on ensuring business activities remain safe, compliant and well-positioned for future opportunity and
sustainable growth.
 
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
 
  • Assists the auditor-in-charge in planning and developing scope, executing, and evaluating audit test plans for projects of medium to high complexity with a risk-based audit approach.
  • Understands fraud, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and general IT risks in order to identify and assess key control activities in business processes.
  • Holds preliminary discussions and interviews with stakeholders prior to the beginning of the fieldwork.
  • Prepares narratives/flowcharts detailing internal controls of area audited.
  • Documents the workflow in the area audited, develops audit programs or procedures, and updates audit programs as necessary.
  • Performs program procedures and documents work performed, test results and conclusions using work paper preparation guidelines.
  • Holds discussions/interview with auditee to gather information, obtains explanations and supporting data/information and documents audit findings and the conclusions drawn.
  • Keeps the Senior Auditor and/or Audit Manager abreast of progress, issues and audit matters as they arise.
  • Contributes to the drafting of audit observation sheets and audit reports.
  • Supports and or participates in audit exit meeting with management
  • Ensures written reports are properly prepared and formatted for distribution.
  • Assists in the execution of continuous monitoring activities periodically for the area assigned.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamically changing environment.
  • Complies fully with all Bank policies, procedures, audit methodologies, training and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes time sheets and expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Completes all required training.
 
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
 
Must-Have*
  •  Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 3 years experience in audit or related experience in Bank Secrecy Act/Anti- Money Laundering (BSA/AML), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), banking operations and/or risk management activities required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience conducting internal audits within financial institutions required
Skills and Knowledge
  •  Understanding of risks, internal controls, work paper documentation and issue identification concepts and experience in applying them to plan, perform, and report on the evaluation of various business processes/areas/functions.
  • Ability to work independently or under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Auditor.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present to peers and management.
  • Ability to exhibit leadership skills needed to convey ideas and obtain management buy-in for constructive change.
  • Understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO and risk assessment practices.
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience in performing multiple projects and working with varying team members.
  • Prior financial services industry experience is a plus.
